The other day, I was lucky enough to be at an event to bring the arts
back into schools and got to see an amazing collaboration between Yo-Yo Ma and
a young dancer in LA, Lil Buck. Someone who knows Yo-Yo Ma had seen Lil Buck on
YouTube and put them together. The dancing is Lil Buck's own creation and
unlike anything I've seen. Hope you enjoy. --Spike Jonze.
This inspired collaboration, captured by director Spike Jonse, between
Yo.YO Ma and los Angeles dancer Charles ¡Lil Buck’ took place at an event to
promote arts in schools.
This is amazing. The way he moves is astounding, ant the juxtaposition
of styles is amazingly rich.. Any art is not jus an activity, . Lil buck
practices a kind of dance called¡ jookin’, wich responds to classical music
cith Gangsta walk on the tip-toes. A
mixture of classical and modern, a taste of quiet and dynamic, a fusion of
oriental and black, all those nuances incur eht thrillingly exotic inspiration
of art an culture.
