On a local television dance show in
Idaho in February 1958, local teens dance to one of the biggest dance crazes
out of the late-1950's called The Stroll, which originated from American
Bandstand. This dance was performed in a line formed with boys on one side and
girls on the other, creating an isle between them. The boy and girl in the
front of the line would meet up in the middle, grab hands and stroll their way
down the line, as the other kids in the line would move their way up to the
front using the same dance steps that the couple moving down the line would
use, but move from side to side instead. When the first couple made their way
down the line, another couple would meet in the middle and stroll down the
isle.
Today, a new version of The Stroll is
done in the form of a group line dance, but this is how it was done originally

Comments- Unless you have danced the
true Stroll, you don't know what you are talking about. It was a lot of fun, and done with
"cool," not quite as glum or scared as these kids. The was early on. Try Strolling to The Duke of Earl (Gene
Chandler) Wonderful memories.
It has should will be remembered that
this is Des Moines Iowa 1958.
This was
middle class America in the mid fifties while Dad had a respectable 1946 Hudson
car the travelling salesman next door had a new Desoto car care of Goblin
cleaners.

Tempting Tito
singing here ♥
This is from
their back to the 50's party video
When Bowser
left in 1984, I was hired to sing his bass parts. He was a very popular character and there was
no way that I would copy him and when I was asked to choose a name, I chose my
High School name, Garry Barry. Shortly
after, at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, Lennie re-named me Tito Mambo and it
stuck. That's when my costume and
demeanor morphed into something merlin saly would recognize. When I moved back into acting, I trained
Reggie and found him a very talented and very nice man.
You brought
back many memories of my teenage years. The stroll was such a fun dance like so
many were through the 50's and here in Louisiana, especially around Opelousas
and Ville Platte one could dance until 3 am with the band playing. Great {
clean} fun.

[Lyrics to "The Stroll"]
Come let's stroll, stroll across the
floor,
Come let's stroll, stroll across the
floor,
Now turn around baby,
Let's stroll some more
Feels so good, take me by my hand.
Feels so good, take me by my hand.
And let's go strolling in wonderland,
Whoa, yeah, uh-huh, stroll, strollin'
Well, rock my soul how I love to stroll.
There's my love, strolling in the door.
There's my love, strolling in the door.
Baby, let's
go strolling by the candy store.
