"Louie
Louie" is an American rhythm and blues song written by Richard Berry in
1955 and best known for the 1963 hit version by The Kingsmen. It has become a
standard in pop and rock, with hundreds of versions recorded by different
artists. The song was originally written and performed in the style of a
Jamaican ballad. It tells, in simple verse–chorus form, the first-person story
of a Jamaican sailor returning to the island to see his lady love.

The ORIGINAL. Written by Richard Berry himself. See my comment below as
to its origination. What a beautiful 78. *** I was a record collector in the
50s and 60s, mostly R&B, doowop, and Motown. My first two purchased records
were 78s in '56...Peggy Sue and Blue Suede Shoes (still got em).
I listened mostly to KDIA in San Francisco/Oakland back in the day. If
I liked a new song, I bought it. Hence you may discover some great songs as we
go on this journey. Remember, just because it wasn't a hit doesn't mean it
wasn't a great song.

Letra canción-Louie Louie-Richard Berry
Louie, Louie, oh, oh, me gotta go
Louie, Louie, me gotta go
Fine little girl she waits for me
Me catch the ship for cross the sea
Me sail the ship all alone
Me never think me make it home
Louie, Louie, oh, me gotta go
Louie, Louie, me gotta go
Three nights and days me sail the sea
Me think of girl constantly
On the ship I dream she there
I smell the rose in her hair
Louie, Louie, me gotta go
Louie, Louie, me gotta go
Me see…
Louie, Louie, oh, me gotta go
Louie, Louie, me gotta go
I say, me gotta go
I say, me gotta go

Comments- the lead singer of the Kingsmen died y ein 2015 at 71.
He said their recording was intended to be an instrumental but at the
last minute jumped in as a vocal. He
quit the band after 'Louie' after a group disagreement.
Every great dish relies on a secret
ingredient to make it distinctive. Rock
music's secret ingredient has to be Richard Berry. While vocally helping numerous Los Angeles
doo wop groups, he records the growling lead vocals to "Riot in Cell Block
#9," the song instrumental in changing "The Robins" into
"The Coasters." Less than a
year later, he is the first voice heard on the first record by Etta James, the
monster answer record hit "The Wallflower (Roll With Me Henry)." Less than two years later, he uses some
secret ingredients of his own and concocts this here record, "Louie
Louie" - the song that ushered in the garage rock phenomenon and is one of
the most recorded and performed songs of all time. And all because Richard Berry kept working,
thank God. (PS: Thanks mate for letting
me occasionally run my mouth.)

3) Little Bill and the BlueNotes
The classic "Louie Louie" was written and recorded by Richard
Berry, a black American, in 1956. Not a hit, it attracted attention in his
north-west US area. What started the phenomenon was The Wailers of "Tall
Cool One" fame. They had no vocalist, and used guest singers. For this one
it was Rockin Robin Roberts. Released in the Seattle area in 1961 it was a big
regional hit. At the same time a competing record was released there by Little
Bill and the BlueNotes. I don't know how that one charted.
It was in 1963 that the Kingsmen, also from that area, copied it. Not
an immediate hit, it was a sleeper which ended up #2 nationally on Billboard
and #1 in Cashbox.
By the way, what the craziness is about is a fellow talking to his
friend Louie about sailing back to Jamaica to see his lady.

hicieron) del famoso tema; cito algunos nombres: The Beach Boys, The Kinks, The
Ventures, The Sonics, The Troggs, David Bowie, Frank Zappa, MC5, Patti Smith,
The Clash, Motörhead, Joan Jett, Iggy Pop, Kiss, etc. etc. etc. (Jajaja, me
divierte hacer esta lista porque imagino la cara de aquellos que lloriquean
cada vez que ven un cover).
Pues bien, por pura curiosidad he escuchado
varias de estas versiones, incluida la famosa Kingsmen, y ninguna me gusta
