ENCUENTRO CON ELEFANTE FURIOSO-MANTENER LA CALMA-SEGURIDAD-FIRMEZA
Alan McSmith elephant encounter1- 2.42 min
Con a wilderness trail the unexpected cn happen at any momento.
While we do not recommend the following as standard guiding procedure.
Watch how allan’s calm energy diffuses a dangerous situation.
The alue of 30 years experience.
comments-
-The elephant respected the man more when he stood his ground while
remaining calm
versus screaming and running. He even tried him a few more times but
the man still remained calm and showed he wasn't a threat, but not willing to
just sit there either by waving his arms. They both go on to live another day.
Moral of the story is it's not what happens to you,
but it's how you react that
determines the outcome.
- If they charged with their ears out like that, it's usually just a
warning, if their ears are back, close your eyes and accept your fate. Never
run because they will charge for sure.
- Showing just how fantastic the relationship between man and nature
can really be.
Complete respect for the animal and the man from the animal. Years of
experience here.
Top video. There are few places where one can still do this. Many
elephants are hunted and harassed and in areas like that maybe the encounter
would have been very different.
We can see here that Alan Smith is an area he knows well and the
animals within.
- Alan McSmith-Its interesting to point out however, that the footage
was filmed in an area of moderate to high historical hunting and poaching
pressure. Energy can still transcend this.
- Part of the problem with
elephants is how intelligent and social they are;
without "good influences" from dominant females, they are
prone to misbehavior,
and they do indeed have tremendous memories for being mistreated by
humans.
This elephant was just "flexing and yapping", if you get me.
They get moody and territorial.
I know they guide must have been
shitting himself, because they don't ALWAYS stop,
but he bluffed wonderfully here and poor Elephant Jr. didn't know what
hit him.
He slunk off having been thoroughly emasculated, haha.
- What is standard guide
procedure?
- Dont run , but there are a lot of factors to be considered , each
encounter, can be different , and a lot depends on the area you are in , if the
ellies are harassed , in said area , or hunted, ¡dont go on foot with clients!
- agree with you Piet, don't run, and the next step would be to give
the elephant more room , moving slowly away. I've been taught not to put
pressure on the game, not even for a good footage or a better sighting and
that's a point some guests don't understand.
They pay hence they must get the best of the show. There's a cut in the
video at about 1'33", the eli has moved a bit , so I guess the guide had
time and room to step away.
I deeply respect his knowledge
and belief in energy, but I'm not sure I would have reacted the same way. Glad
this bull wasn't in must...
- Magnificient animal protecting his/her territory - scary moments when
the elephant charged and only someone
with experience would have stood thèir ground , if it were me i would have been
faster than usain bolt in the other direction. Great video which shows that not
all wild animals want to hurt or kill but just want to be left in peace.
- Well, When a wild elephant is
charging you, you might as well stay calm and hope for the best because it
gives you the best chance and you certainly have no better option anyway. I had a similar situation once with two
snarling giant male Rottweilers charging at me. Terrified on the inside, cool
and calmly standing my ground on the outside.
- That works with dogs too.
-Have you ever seen a terrier charging a big
cat? They stop and change their minds
at 2-3 metres.
- The elephants especially in Africa do have
a fear of humans because of rampant poaching, and they are as intelligent as
the great apes to communicate with their
herd. Also the man knows what to do and
what not to do in front of an elephant thanks to his long experience.
- As a former elephant keeper, I know that
when they typically charge, you don't run,
you actually take a step forward. It blows their mind that instead of
running, you're actually advancing on them. They think that your kung-fu must
be REALLY strong, or else you'd be running, so it puts that doubt in their mind
and they stop their charge.
This interaction between an elephant and a researcher is incredible!-1.32

Nerves of steel - How calm would you be in this situation?-3.31 min

This tracker did exactly the right thing by
remaining calm while an elephant properly
sniffed him out. Chances are it would have
ended very differently had he panicked.
Comments-
-the art of communication. Something many
people still unable to do properly.
Elephant comes over "what are you? Who
are you?"
Guy is relaxed, his body languages says
"look buddy, no danger here, alright?"
Elephant says :" oh okay, no danger,
lemme check what's up there and I'll be gone"
-Exactly. He is designated to protect the
tribe/herd/group.
So, he will step forth to analyze what's
happening with these strange anamolies,
like
noise making creatures aka jeeps, funny looking creatures inside them, Us.
As long as he is satisfied that there's no
harm here, we are all safe.
That's the reason why, we need to keep our
mouths shut when there is a problem
ahead and think rather than respond
immediately.
- those guys where just lucky to meet the
elephant in a good mood.
-You could tell right away that the elephant
wasn't aggressive just curious
